§ 2.05. Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Latest version.
  • The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) prohibits discrimination in any terms or conditions of employment for qualified individuals with a disability. The ADA requires that employment decisions be based on the ability of a person to perform the essential functions of a job and not the person's disability or limitations.

When necessary, the City will identify the essential functions of the job, determine whether a person with a disability, with or without accommodation, is qualified to perform the duties, and determine whether a reasonable accommodation can be made for a qualified individual. Employees with a disability who believe an accommodation is necessary to perform the job should notify their department head as soon as the need arises.
